Six Billiion dollars is what is being spent by CERN to help them discover the truth. They are working on an accelerator that will allow them in part to see what it was like right as the universe was created. This is their theory as they hope to recreate the processes they have deduced from the beginning of all things.
I find this decision to spend so much money in this direction a fascinating aspect of who we are as species. We are hard wired for truth. We need it at our most inner most being. We search and search. We fight and fight. We ignore great calamities of the world in order to pursue it.
